As well as discovering new skills, Megan is gaining valuable work experience at the V&A Museum of Childhood.

Megan Rowlands is studying for a BA in history at Greenwich Campus. It was the friendliness of the history department at the university Open Day that led her to choose Greenwich. One of the many things she loves about the university is the support she is receiving from her tutors and course leaders. She feels like she's genuinely absorbing information rather than just memorising it for an end of year exam. "The staff have plenty of time for their students and genuinely love their subjects, which is reflected in their teaching," says Megan.

Her studies are helping her to discover new skills. This includes creating her very first podcast and a board game that shows how children learn better if they are in an environment where they are playing. Megan is also gaining real world experience working as a volunteer for eight months at the V&A Museum of Childhood. The work placement forms an integral part of her studies and counts towards her degree. She has made valuable contacts and experience which she hopes will help her after graduation.

Back on campus, Megan really enjoys being among like-minded people as a member of Vegan Society and the Feminism Society. Coming to the city from the countryside was a big step and Megan hopes she can apply all the new skills she's learned in a work environment that she enjoys. "I'd like to work in the education sector, making education beneficial for children of all abilities as I believe it only benefits a small proportion of children." She also dreams of becoming a dog-adopter and moving to another city at some point, Berlin perhaps.
