TLDRoffon

The MBA International Business program is for everyone, no matter what your educational background. Ikram talks us through what her experience has been studying this degree whilst having a background in Health Sciences.

My name is Ikram Asbaai, and I am currently doing an MBA course in International Business at the University of Greenwich. I am a registered dietitian in my home country, Morocco, where I started my career by taking a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Université Internationale de Casablanca. Those 3 years gave me the ability to maintain an excellent performance in developing educational programs, presenting nutritional workshops, and consulting clients on healthy meal plans tailored to their individual needs. Eventually, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition in the United Kingdom at Coventry University in order to strengthen my research abilities and pave my way to work as a nutrition specialist in a variety of organization internationally.

I have numerous positive thoughts to share about the University of Greenwich. My MBA program is well structured and incorporates all the core components. My lecturers are so dedicated to sharing their knowledge, which kept me inspired throughout this academic term. Despite the COVID circumstances and having lectures moved to the online space, our lecturers adjusted immediately and tried to provide an excellent teaching quality and created an energetic exchange between the members of the classroom.

My favourite module is called the Foundations of Scholarship and Research. I like this module because I am very familiar with research methods as thanks to my previous master’s degree. Moreover, I like research because it improves my thinking by engaging me in the creation of new knowledge, it also tests me to produce new ideas and possibilities and it challenges me to stretch my mind and my vision.

This unique program offered by the University of Greenwich aims to train future managers with a global and international approach, which allows me to expand my theoretical and practical understanding of the subject.

At present, my main goal is to expand my knowledge and become more versatile and skilled in diverse industries. Nowadays, leadership roles in fields related to health and wellness are in high demand. Consequently, completing an MBA degree can open doors to a wide range of those opportunities in marketing and public relations, food industry, disease prevention, government programs, community education and more. Building and starting a nutrition counselling private practice has always been a big dream of mine. I currently am still looking forward to achieving this dream.

I believe that thanks to this MBA program taught by professionals and experts in the field; I have the chance to enhance my knowledge and skills about the industry.

I am confident that the opportunity to both study and work in the United Kingdom and especially in the London will broaden my horizons and expand my opportunities.

To all the current and coming students at the University of Greenwich, always set high standards for yourself whether they are personal or academic and make sure to live up to them. Never hesitate to ask questions and book appointments with your lecturers, they are here for you. Remember, “The only bad question is an unasked one”. Finally, believe in yourself, make friends, and don’t forget to have fun as these are the best years of your life.
